The purpose of the Women's Ministry at UCC is to offer opportunities for fellowship, spiritual growth, service, and leadership development.

Women's activities include such things as:

  • The women's service group is called "Today's Women" and is a very active group that serves the needs of the church and individuals in a variety of ways. One of their highlights is hosting a semi-annual Ladies Retreat for the region.  This area of women’s ministry is designed for participation by all the women in the church. Today’s Women exists to promote fellowship, service, missions, and spiritual growth. There are four areas in which women of the church can choose to be involved. Coordinators oversee the planning, implementation, and completion of projects and tasks in each of the four areas. The kitchen area is responsible for funeral dinners, meals for the sick and new mothers, Easter breakfast, and Thanksgiving dinner. Special events area focuses on fellowship and spiritual growth through ladies’ night out, and Girlfriends Unlimited retreats, happenings. The decorating coordinator works in conjunction with the other coordinators to make attractive settings for the activities. The fourth area of Today’s Women is service to those within the church and to those outside the church. Women are invited to plug in and be involved in an integral part of the Women’s Ministry of University Christian Church. Please contact Teresa Wasson or Pam Taulbee for more details
  • "The Sarahs" is another ladies group that specifically serves to meet the needs of Rainbow Christian Camp.
  • Women's Bible Study meets each Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.
  • The Widow Support Group

UCC offers a wonderful support group for widows, single seniors, and ladies without a mate for the day.  The group was started so that no single woman had to eat alone on Sunday.  It is not limited to Senior citizens but to any women who want to join these ladies for lunch.  The group meets almost every Sunday after the church service for lunch, usually at a restaurant, the home of one of the church members, or the church.  The group does not meet on Sunday’s when there is a dinner planned at the church and on some holidays.  For more information please talk to Phyllis Osborne or Carolyn Dorton.
